Monthly Drawing

I’ve decided to make this fun.  For every comment or post that you put on this site I will enter your name into a monthly drawing.  The first day of the following month I will draw a name and announce the winner.  The winner has 1 week to get in touch with me to receive their prize.  This is FREE!!  However that means the prizes wil not be expensive.  Hello, this is a coupon website.  I may send you coupons, or a coupon book, something monogrammed, or even a gift certificate so post a comment, a great deal you found, and tell all your friends.  Let’s spread the word about coupons!

Schnucks – Southaven, MS

Schnucks will double coupons up to 60 cents and will double up to 8 of the same coupon.

Schnuck’s grocery card is only good for gas.  However it is a better deal than Kroger gas.  If you buy $100 of groceries (pre-coupon) at Kroger you only get 10 cents off per gallon per transaction.  At Schnuck’s $100 of groceries is 20 cents off per gallon and it accumulates.  (It accumulates 5 cents for every $25 spent)  So in 30 days you’ve spent $400 (pre-coupon) at Schnucks you get 80 cent/gallon off your fill up.  At Kroger youwould get 10 cents off 4 different fill ups. For those of us in Hernando it is worth the 15 minute drive to shop at Schnucks.  Also they offer a larger variety of brands that Kroger does not and so you have a greater range of coupons to use. I think that you have 30 days to use the amount you’ve accumulated, but check it at the customer service desk.

Kroger – Hernando, MS

Our local Kroger will only double up to 8 (up to 60 cents)  of the same coupon and will only take 1 of the same internet coupon per transaction. 

Register your Kroger card at kroger.com to load kroger brand coupons to your card.  These will come off automatically when you scan your card. If you have an iPhone you can use cellfire or the kroger app to add coupons while you shop.  You may also use shortcuts.com from any internet access point including your iphone.  Signing up at Kroger.com and checking that you want to receive discounts and mailings from kroger will let them send you coupons based on your buying history. It is another way to get kroger brand coupons as well as more manufacturer coupons right to your door and they are pre-punched or already cut out for you.

Kroger also lets you take 10 cents off your gas for every $100 of groceries (pre-coupon) that you buy.  But only 10 cents per transaction.

Starting Fresh

In looking over my previous posts, I felt it was time for a new beginning.  My perspective has changed since I started couponing and I have learned a lot.  Also I recognize that there are already a lot of great instructional sites already available to the couponer better illustrated and more detailed than mine.  Some great ones to vist for learning how to coupon are www.SouthernSavers.com or www.Couponing101.com.  Visit any of these to get great ideas and the basics of couponing.

Visit one or both of these sites to get the basics.  Then come back here to see deal listings for the Desoto County, MS area.  Also if you have any great deals you’ve come across, feel free to share them.  The most important thing I have learned about grocery shopping is that sale prices are cyclical and will come back every 6 to 10 weeks. So if you came across this great deal 3 weeks ago, post it and I’ll start looking for it in another 3 weeks.  In addition, coupons seem to follow the sale prices.  You can usually get the coupon you need for an upcoming sale shortly before or slightly after the sale starts.  AND sale prices can last across 2 to 4 weeks.    So look at the date at the bottom of the sale tag on the shelf to see when the sale price ends.  You may have plenty of time to order those coupons and get them in and use them.

Target and Walgreens will take a store coupon AND a manufacturer coupon on a single item. It is called stacking. But they do not double these coupons. 

It is important to go to the store every week.  The sale paper does not list everything that is on sale so you need to go and see what is on sale vs. what coupons you have available.  Also if you go at the beginning of the sale you may have time to order multiples of those coupons to use if you find items you can get for free or less than70% off its regular price.
