Buying for Free

Save money and time with coupons!

Kroger 1/19/11

Today I went to Kroger at 9:20am and left at 11:46am.  That’s the time it takes to get the deals and I must say Kroger was NOT the place to find them this week.  About the only thing that was on sale was Kroger brand items.  They were running the buy 10 frozen and get $5 off your bill but it was all high dollar items except the lean cuisine, which I didn’t have any coupons for.

However I still didn’t do too badly.  I bought $160.56 worth of groceries for $70.45.  That is a savings of 58% or $90.11.  The best deals I found at kroger were; Colgate toothpaste $1 minus the .50 cent coupon from the paper = FREE, Closeout price of NY texas Toast Sea Salt & Pepper Croutons $.94 minus .50 cent coupon = FREE, Carefree pantyliners (reg. price $1.09) minus .50 coupon = .09 cents.  I also got 3 of the general mills cereals (fiber one and cheerios – $2.49 each) to get the cinnamon chex FREE minus $1.10 ecoupon, minus $1.75 paper coupon (.50 & .75) = $4.62.  That’s usually what fiber one costs by itself, so 4 boxes not a bad deal!

I also did the same deal but bought fiber one cereal bars and one box of nature valley bars.  Again I got the FREE cinnamon chex and the total minus ecoupons (1.50) minus paper coupons (2.55) = 3 cereal bar boxes and 1 cereal @ $4.32.  So not bad on cereal this week.  My husband loves the healthy stuff, the kids will eat the cheerios and the cereal bars we all eat.  Another good deal I got was on Bounce dryer sheets.  They were on sale at $4.99 reg. $6.49.  I had a paper coupon for $1 off and an ecoupon for $2 off.  So I got a regularly priced $6.49 box of dryer sheets for $1.99.

In the dairy department, I bought Turner milk with a .55 coupon ($1.10) for just a few pennies less than the store brand.  I bought Kraft singles on sale at $1.99 reg. $4.25 with a .75 coupon bringing it down to $1.24.  Yoplait yogurt was on sale .50 cents each.  I bought 6 for $3 minus .80 cents paper coupon = $2.20 or .37 cents each.

NY Frozen garlic toast  was on sale for $2.50 down from $3.59 minus $1 coupon, got it for $1.50. Pillsbury toaster strudels were $1.99 reg $2.69.  I bought 2 minus $1 in paper coupons and ecoupon .50 cents made $3.98 – $1.50 or $1.24 each.

Last but not least, 10 birdseye steamers for $1 each.  minus 5 paper coupons (buy 2 get .50 cents) $5.00 off.  That takes them down to .50 cents each.

Tomorrow I’ll check out Schnucks and let you know what deals are going on there.
